Palladian domers

Exterior photo taken for National Register registration in 1977, also facing North Main Street. Notice the large windows protruding from the mansard roof, called dormers. They show the Eaton House’s eccentric character, as they are palladian, uncommon in Second Empire homes, with the center window arched, and the side windows rectangular. The palladian dormer’s function is primarily aesthetic, as they give the structure a more elegant feel. | Source:
