National Elk Refuge, Jackson, Wyoming Postcard

Early 20th-century Jackson Hole residents recognized that their settlements disrupted elk migrations and displaced them from their habitats, leading them to advocate for a wildlife refuge. As a result, Congress designated this 24,700-acre protected area north of Jackson Hole as the National Elk Refuge in 1912. | Source: Garaman, A. National Elk Refuge, Jackson, Wyoming.
