River crossing

An 1857 oil painting by Harry A. Sindall, possibly imagining Lieutenant Beale’s expedition, depicts a camel train crossing a river. Beale had originally been apprehensive about fording the camels when he came to a river, but they behaved unflappably, in some cases better than the horses and mules did. | Creator: Harry S.
