This clipping is from the St. Johns Herald, which in the 1880s had been regarded as a vehemently anti-Mormon publication. But by the turn of the twentieth century, the Udalls who were once targets of scorn were now considered members of the Apache County community. At the time of this clipping from 1901—before David moved the family to St. Johns and built the Elm Hotel—Ida and her children lived in Eagar, Arizona. | Source: “Eagar.” St. Johns Herald, March 30, 1901.
