Reno served as America’s center for divorce for more than half of the 20th century. Many accounts of those who ventured to Nevada seeking divorce share tales of feeling a strong sense community belonging during their stay. Cowboys and easterner’s worlds collided on dude ranches. Sinatra’s voice rang out to his fellow divorcees at the Riverside. Arthur Miller stayed on the shore of Pyramid Lake to part from his wife and marry Marilyn Monroe.\r\n\r\nThis tour spans sites in Nevada’s history as a divorce capital. From hotels and ranches to courthouses, the history of Nevada divorce is unearthed. The sites largely center in Reno though it also includes locations near Lake Tahoe and Nevada’s Capital in Carson City. These stories include famous and local figures in describing the history of an international divorce migration to Nevada.\r\n</p>","postscript_text":"","tour_img":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/fullsize/aba27889d61cd8ebc9fc597b5042952b.jpg","items":[{"id":346,"title":"Making the Divorce Capital of the World","latitude":39.16087900000000132649802253581583499908447265625,"longitude":-119.7315219999999982292138156481087207794189453125,"thumbnail":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/square_thumbnails/aba27889d61cd8ebc9fc597b5042952b.jpg","fullsize":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/fullsize/aba27889d61cd8ebc9fc597b5042952b.jpg","subtitle":null,"address":null,"custom":{"subtitle":null,"text":null}},{"id":347,"title":"Russell’s Renovation","latitude":39.08663899999999813417161931283771991729736328125,"longitude":-119.9401110000000016952981241047382354736328125,"thumbnail":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/square_thumbnails/821f45bf9e1973e59264f5b6ff07f564.jpg","fullsize":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/fullsize/821f45bf9e1973e59264f5b6ff07f564.jpg","subtitle":null,"address":null,"custom":{"subtitle":null,"text":null}},{"id":348,"title":"President of U.S. Steel Gets Renovated","latitude":39.52401900000000267709765466861426830291748046875,"longitude":-119.8138589999999936708263703621923923492431640625,"thumbnail":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/square_thumbnails/0243116008dcc5c4bdabb5fc0863d05b.jpg","fullsize":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/fullsize/0243116008dcc5c4bdabb5fc0863d05b.jpg","subtitle":null,"address":null,"custom":{"subtitle":null,"text":null}},{"id":349,"title":"Evolution of the Riverside Hotel","latitude":39.52462799999999987221599440090358257293701171875,"longitude":-119.8125859999999960336936055682599544525146484375,"thumbnail":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/square_thumbnails/d18534375041f0583d63e6790a9d418f.jpg","fullsize":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/fullsize/d18534375041f0583d63e6790a9d418f.jpg","subtitle":null,"address":null,"custom":{"subtitle":null,"text":null}},{"id":350,"title":"Reno Residence Options Evolve With Residency Law","latitude":39.52400080951673544404911808669567108154296875,"longitude":-119.81242597103118896484375,"thumbnail":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/square_thumbnails/d3ed162ddf5fc6fdc24f072de821c426.jpg","fullsize":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/fullsize/d3ed162ddf5fc6fdc24f072de821c426.jpg","subtitle":null,"address":null,"custom":{"subtitle":null,"text":null}},{"id":351,"title":"Judge Bartlett’s Legacy","latitude":39.523636674495406850837753154337406158447265625,"longitude":-119.8127049207687520038234652020037174224853515625,"thumbnail":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/square_thumbnails/6b37d5ae2f19cbd173ff378d9d2d0854.jpg","fullsize":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/fullsize/6b37d5ae2f19cbd173ff378d9d2d0854.jpg","subtitle":null,"address":null,"custom":{"subtitle":null,"text":null}},{"id":352,"title":"Sinatra’s Reno Residency","latitude":39.52462799999999987221599440090358257293701171875,"longitude":-119.8125859999999960336936055682599544525146484375,"thumbnail":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/square_thumbnails/1c311385456d211225d9b62d734deedf.jpg","fullsize":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/fullsize/1c311385456d211225d9b62d734deedf.jpg","subtitle":null,"address":null,"custom":{"subtitle":null,"text":null}},{"id":353,"title":"Literature and Legacy of Pyramid Lake Ranch","latitude":39.95266000000000161662683240137994289398193359375,"longitude":-119.6016929999999973688318277709186077117919921875,"thumbnail":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/square_thumbnails/d6040b730f6676b759e385d0d96c4ebf.jpg","fullsize":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/fullsize/d6040b730f6676b759e385d0d96c4ebf.jpg","subtitle":null,"address":null,"custom":{"subtitle":null,"text":null}},{"id":354,"title":"The Divorce of Miller, Marilyn, and the Misfits","latitude":39.9514649690236893775363569147884845733642578125,"longitude":-119.5994639396667622577297152020037174224853515625,"thumbnail":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/square_thumbnails/599c62862b473332f849966482585c68.jpg","fullsize":"https://www.intermountainhistories.org/files/fullsize/599c62862b473332f849966482585c68.jpg","subtitle":null,"address":null,"custom":{"subtitle":null,"text":null}}]}
